Ministries
Bible School
In 2016 the Theological Institute of Cabo Delgado (INTECADE) began training church leaders from the northern provinces of Mozambique. Courses offered include the study of Biblical Texts, Theology, Ministry, and Marriage & Family. The students come for
three 7-week long semesters. They are able to graduate when they have completed 14 courses and a practicum.
Bible Translation
Our team volunteered with Wycliffe Bible Translators to assist in the completion of the first Makua-Meeto translation of the New Testament. In 2021 seventeen thousand copies of the New Testament were printed. In 2022 a Psalms translation project began with the vision of translating the Psalms into Makua-Meeto and writing songs based on the Psalms that can be sung in the churches.
Church Planting and Growth
In the beginning years of our ministry, we were much more heavily involved in planting new churches. In current years our role has shifted more to leadership training in the existing churches, as the Mozambican brothers and sisters take on the role of planting churches in new villages. An important aspect of our ministry is visiting these churches for teaching, encouragement, and support.
EFL (English as a Foreign Language)
Learning English provides Mozambicans with new job opportunities, the ability to travel, and better communication skills. More importantly, this EFL program provides access to the Good News! Students are taught stories of the Bible, encouraging them to seek the truth found in Jesus.
Leadership Training
An important part of church planting and growth is discipling men and women to take the baton long after we leave. We desire to leave behind a healthy, vibrant church with strong leaders. The ultimate goal is lives transformed by God’s love and grace.
Literacy Program
The literacy rate in Mozambique is extremely low, especially in the north. Because of this, it is difficult to find Christians, especially women, who can read, study, and teach God’s word. This ministry was set up to train men and women to teach others how to read. Those that have been trained go back to their villages and set up literacy programs. Many adults and children have learned to read through these programs and are able to now read God’s word.
Makonde/Mwani Discipleship
and Church Growth
For the past few years there has been an influx of people from the Makonde and Mwani tribes settling in Montepuez and the surrounding districts. We are partnering with the local congregations to bridge the cultural and language challenges as they minister to their new neighbors and train others to take the gospel back to their home areas.
Marriage and Family
We believe that strong, godly families is a huge factor to having healthy churches.
Therefore, we have been involved in teaching couples to have healthy marriages and families. This has taken on various forms, including seminars, informal teaching, counseling etc. We are currently in the process of starting to train other couples who can come alongside us in this ministry.
Urerihana
“Urerihana” means to bless one another or to make one another beautiful. This is a ministry that began in 2011. Women were trained to make jewelry and sew products from local fabrics that are sold to help these women support their families. It has been amazing to watch village women be empowered by learning new skills and creating beautiful items.
